Welcome to Mesty Croft Nursery. Your child's school journey starts here, and we look forward to an exciting and fun year!

Below you will see some of our learning experiences.
Spring 2 Week beginning 29th March
Happy Easter!
This week we have had lots of fun creating Easter crafts. We have made cards for someone special and Easter hats. We have also been on an Easter Egg Hunt!
Week beginning 22nd March
This week we have been looking for signs of Spring. We enjoyed going on a walk and found some interesting things growing. We have made some super Spring time pictures.
Week Beginning 8th March
This week we have been celebrating Mother's Day by making a card and presents for our Mum's. We threaded some beads to make a bracelet and planted a flower.
We also explored the plants by looking at them carefully. We noticed they had roots, leaves and flowers. We found out that they needed compost, water and sunshine to help them grow.

Week beginning 30th November 2020
This week we have enjoyed listening to the story Dear Santa. We have made Santa Christmas cards for our families using different shapes. We have also been making some Christmas stockings and decorated the Christmas tree. It is so pretty!
Week beginning 23rd November 2020
This week we have been enjoying the story We're Going On A Leaf Hunt. We have had lots of fun hunting for leaves outdoors. We also created Autumn pictures by doing leaf prints and cutting out leaves.

Nursery Noticeboard
Home Learning Tasks will sent home on a Thursday. Please return Home Learning books on a Monday so that new work can be given.
Library Books - Each week your child will have two books to take home. A picture book and a story book. Both books are to help your child develop an interest in books, and increase their understanding and vocabulary. Children will keep these books at home for a week and return them on a Friday when they can choose new books.
Water Bottles - Children are required to bring a water bottle each day. Your child will have access to their bottle during the session in order to keep hydrated. Please label the bottle clearly with your child's name.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD'S CLOTHING IS CLEARLY LABELLED TO AVOID LOSS OR CONFUSION.
A warm welcome back to our previous afternoon children who will now be attending Nursery during the morning session. We have missed you all! We also welcome our new children starting Nursery and look forward to an exciting time together.
This week we have been celebrating harvest. We have been singing and dancing to harvest songs. We have also been exploring fruit and vegetables. We have drawn some super pictures of the fruit and vegetables that we looked at.
We had lots of fun making a scarecrow. We made a nurse scarecrow! Thank you nurses for helping us!
Throughout school we have been exploring The Tin Forest story. In Nursery we have been exploring forests and their habitat. Using our creative skills we have created a forest picture.
This week we introduced our Reading Spine book Where's Spot? We have really enjoyed this story. We have had lots of fun pretending to be the animals and making animal pictures.
This week we have been enjoying our Reading Spine story Where's Spot. We have been looking at the different animals in the story and thought about where they would like to live. We have been choosing our favourite animal in the story.
This week we have had fun getting to know our new friends. We have played lots of games together. We gave also been telling each other about the things we like to do.
' I like playing on my new scooter'. 'I had it for my birthday'
This week we have been thinking about what we look like. We looked into a mirror and thought about what we could see. We have painted a portrait of our ourselves.
This week we have enjoyed the story Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? by Bill Martin Jr / Eric Carle.
We have been thinking about our useful ears and explored different sounds. We went on a listening walk outdoors and heard lots of different things. We heard the birds singing, the wind blowing the trees, children playing, and cars. We created our own sounds in the outdoor area and found we could make lots of different sounds.
For children who are self-isolating and have only mild symptoms that do not prevent them from completing work, please see attached some activities that may be completed at home.
Each day on our class page there will be suggested tasks for your child to complete at home. Children may also like to lead their own learning by following their own personal interests. For example animals, mini-beasts, transport etc.
Work can be recorded in their journals along with any photographs you may wish to take. You can also email any pictures or photographs you wish us to see and we will respond to you individually.
