eSafety

At Mesty Croft Primary the happiness, safety and wellbeing of our pupils is at the centre of everything we do. In this rapidly changing digital world it is imperative that we prepare our pupils with the knowledge and skills to remain safe online. In order to achieve this, we provide our pupils, parents and staff with opportunities to learn and gather skills to support their own digital safety.

We have put in place a progressive and challenging Computing curriculum. This has been carefully planned to include a wide spectrum of digital safety skills. To support the pupils learning, our school also provides pupils with opportunities to gather knowledge through other avenues, such as assemblies, games and competitions to keep the profile of eSafety high.

Every February all of our pupils participate in activities for Safer Internet Day (SID). Pupils take part in discussions and activities based on a theme aimed to develop and enhance their knowledge, and the importance of digital safety.

At Mesty Croft Primary we pride ourselves on the positive links we have with the parents of our pupils and endeavour to support them as much as we can. We hold digital safety workshops for parents annually and share additional events organised by our local authority partners such as Prevent. By doing this we hope that the important messages we are sharing at school will be reflected by the parents at home.

Our school is a great supporter of CEOP (the police branch of digital safety). All of our pupils have been made familiar with this service and are continually reminded of ways in which they are able to report breaches in their digital safety.
