World Book Day 2020!

We celebrate books every day at Mesty Croft Academy; our love of Reading really does shine brightly.

Once again, we couldn’t wait to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2020, with a day dedicated to simply... Reading! No costumes for us this year, we decided to focus purely on children's literature; however it was so much more than just coming in normal uniforms and bringing a book (just ask the children!). They had so much fun; Year 2 rattled through the ‘Tin Forest’, Year 3 were enchanted by Macbeth ‘spells’ and Year 5 took a walk on the spooky side!

The day began with an Assembly to remember that ‘Reading really does take us to places we’ve never imagined’ and to share our #shelfie entries so far! The children also received their WBD token.

The whole school hosted ‘Book Tasting’ in their classrooms. The tables were set, the courses of their ‘favourite’ books from home were served and they tucked in! They had the most incredible time; what’s more ‘chatter matters’ and they had so much to share and talk about. It really was a roaring success. We ended the day with a story/poem read by a different Teacher, including Mrs Bray who shared 'Pig in the Pond' with Nursery-SPLASH!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank those families who, instead of purchasing a costume, chose to gift a book from our new Amazon Wishlist. This was set up to help support our new Library and your gift means such a lot to us and, more importantly, our children. Thank you!

Keep your eyes peeled for photos in the gallery and of course on class pages.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your continued support.
